Online shops that leave the margin with you.

WooCommerce or Shopify, whichever suits your range. Payment methods, shipping rules and legal texts for Austria. No bought template.

Which platform

WooCommerce

If control matters more to you.

  • The shop runs on your own server. Nobody takes a cut of every sale.
  • Special cases are doable: tiered pricing, collection in store, bulky goods, your own discount rules.
  • The data is yours. You can move at any time without asking anyone for permission.
  • In return, updates, security and backups need someone looking after them. That is us, if you want it.
Shopify

If you just want it to run.

  • Shopify handles technology, updates and security. Nothing can go stale because nobody was looking.
  • Payment methods are quick to set up, even if you have never run a shop before.
  • In return there is a monthly fee, and depending on the payment method a share of each sale goes with it.
  • And with unusual requirements there is a hard stop. What the system does not provide for does not exist.

We sell neither of them. Which one runs cheaper and quieter in your case is something we work out beforehand — that is part of the website check.

What goes into an online shop

01

Range

Products with variants: sizes, colours, pack sizes, tiered prices. Set up as one item instead of forty separate ones nobody maintains.

02

Payment

Card, Klarna, EPS, PayPal, prepayment, invoice. What your customers expect, not what charges the lowest fee — a missing method costs more than its fee.

03

Shipping

Zones for Austria, Germany and the EU. Weight, bulky goods, chilled delivery, collection in store. And a price that is right before the order goes through.

04

Legal

Terms, withdrawal, returns, price labelling, unit prices. Tuned to Austria and built into the places where they belong.

05

Accounting

Orders end up where they belong without anyone retyping them. If you already run a till or inventory system, we check first whether and how it can be linked.

06

Product photos

We shoot them, cut out on white or staged, depending on the range. In a shop the photo is the goods — that is all the customer has to go on.

Questions about an online shop

WooCommerce or Shopify — which is better?
Neither, and that is not a dodge. It comes down to three things: how many products you have, how many special cases sit inside them, and how much you want to handle yourself. A range with tiered prices, collection and chilled delivery nearly always lands on WooCommerce. Forty items without complications run more quietly on Shopify. After the first conversation we tell you which one it will be, and why.
What does the shop cost me on an ongoing basis?
With Shopify, a monthly fee to Shopify plus a share of each sale depending on the payment method. With WooCommerce, server and maintenance, but no cut of your revenue. We name no figures on this page — fees change, and whatever stood here would be wrong next year. Which works out cheaper in your case is something we work through together beforehand.
Can I add products myself?
Yes, and that is the plan. We set up the first products together so you can see how a variant is built and where the unit price comes from. After that you do it yourself. Larger changes to the range, such as a new category with its own logic, we take on.
My items are in a spreadsheet. Do I have to retype everything?
No. A spreadsheet or an export from your till can be imported. The work is not in the import but before it: a list that suits the accounts is rarely one that looks good in a shop. We go through it once and tidy it up, then the rest is quick.
Why my own shop when Amazon and marketplaces exist?
Because there the margin and the customer belong to somebody else. A marketplace brings reach, but takes a cut, sets the rules and does not hand you your buyers' addresses. Running both side by side is perfectly fine — the leg that belongs to you just should not be the weaker one.
Do I need a lawyer for the legal texts?
We build the texts in, make sure withdrawal, returns and price labelling sit in the right places, and work from vetted templates. That is not legal advice — we are not allowed to give it. For special ranges such as food or alcohol we recommend having someone look over it once.
Is there funding for a shop?
For digitalisation projects in Austria often yes, and it differs from province to province. The order matters: in many programmes an application filed after the contract is signed is no longer accepted. More under funding advice.
